![]() ![]() It hasn't got any cartoons, which I think I prefer. This story is like a slightly older and more 'bookish' version of the Wimpy Kid books. At least it did it in a funny way though – an improvement on the classic romance! ![]() ![]() What I didn't like about this book was that it was always going on about Ishmael's girlfriend Kelly and Razz trying to 'match up' Ishmael with his cousin, Cindy. Even Scobie gets a nickname – You Whose Shoes I Am Not Worthy To Lick! There's lots of funny antics, but the use of ridiculous nicknames is a real winner - Bill becomes Bilbo, Ignatius Prindabel/ Prindabuddy/ Prindabubble, or even Pi Man. One thing going for this book is that it is very funny! Almost every chapter provoked a giggle at some point, which for me is a record since the time when I read books like Hundred Mile an Hour Dog. There's even the hasty formation of a heavy metal band, 'Hoops of Steel', to perform in the Battle of the Bands, plus a lemonade/ vodka mix-up at the long-anticipated Semi-Formal, or as Razz calls it, the Semi-Normal! But the question is, at the end of the year, will all this be enough? This leads to lots of hilarity, from finding that their volleyball 'Intimidation Factor' Theodore can actually become a giggling blob, to Scobie nearly sinking in a swimming race because he wants to do his bit for the school. ![]()
